        家长们有的举手，有的相视而笑，甚至有位爸爸说：我连自己的早餐都来不及吃。

        Some parents put their hands up, some just smiled to each other awkwardly, even one was telling us he couldn't have his own breakfast.

        10月12日,为了让家长们对目前海外留学现状有进一步的了解,厦门工学院附属学校国际部中美班的老师们于图远楼414教室召开了家长沙龙,围绕如何根据留学资讯制定孩子的升学计划等内容，与家长展开交流与对话。

         To deeper the understanding of overseas study and better planning for the future path, VIA in The Affiliated School of Xiamen Institute of Technology conducted a customized parents salon for our Senior one parents on 12th, October. 

        家长沙龙上，中美班翟培琦（Peggy）博士以开头的三个问题作为引入，对教师应如何教育学生，确定合适的目标，应该以怎样的态度对待学生等教育方向发表了自己独到的见解。翟博士曾在德国和美国的知名大学攻读硕士及博士学位，拥有丰富的国际教育经验。所以她针对中美班学生应如何制定升学计划进行了详细解读，为家长和学生们提供了切实可行的建议，同时也让家长们更加了解附属学校中美班的教学特色与培养目标。

        Peggy, who has graduated from well-known German and American universities, earning a master degree and a doctorate degree , started from the three questions above,and illustrated her insightful analysis of how to educate our students within the framework of VIA as well as how to set up a proper goal. Moreover, she provided a detailed plan for students prospective college admission. 

        翟博士将学生的预期表现分为六大板块，她表示学生的日常行为表现与升学成果是密不可分的。不难看出，西方对于细节培养的重视与中华传统文化不谋而合。例如“礼貌礼节与沟通能力”，“学术诚实与规范”等都体现了儒家的“仁、义、礼、智、信”，这始终贯穿于中华伦理发展中，也是根植于我们的血脉之中的“五常”，因此在未来的学习过程中，融汇中西显得尤为重要。而学生秉持的这些态度和优良表现，必将在未来的大学申请中体现出明显的个人特质，从而受得名校青睐。

        Students performance expectation is divided into six parts. As far as we know, students behavior is closely connected with the success of their future learning. It is also obvious that both western and eastern education hold the same view of students. For instance, students should display ability to communicate with others and be kind to peers or teachers. We believe that good personality traits are associated with better prospects in education. 

        翟博士从季度成绩构成、期中考试、期末考试等内容及项目评分占比等角度，对中美班VIA的成绩系统进行全方位讲解，向家长普及升学节点相关知识内容，帮助家长了解阶段性学习和查缺补漏的重要性。高中第一年首要是课程融合及学习习惯养成，同时加强英语学习、准备标准化语言考试，在课外同步参与社会实践等公益活动。

        Peggyalso explained VIA grading system, which could help parents to understand whatkind of factor will benefit their children. For the first year of the study, weattach great importance to students study tactic and self management.Furthermore, we should lay solid foundation for future standardized tests. Lastbut not least, students should raise their awareness of the community. 

        此外，大家就广泛阅读的重要性进行了深入探讨，指出丰富的文化知识不仅有助于扩展学生的知识，提升阅读能力、口语交际能力，在提升学生的辩证思维等方面也有着重要引导作用。拥有更加广泛知识，学以致用、融会贯通，这是西方教育所重视的方面，而恰恰是中国学生所欠缺的能力。

        Besides, parents got involved in the discussion of extensive reading. Enriching students knowledge by reading is a important path to their personal goal. No matter you want to be creative or be a critical thinker, reading will guide you there. 

        家长们聚精会神的听讲，对孩子的未来规划有了更清晰的认识，写下了各自孩子的优弱势、意向留学国家，及希望孩子未来从事的职业。通过此次沙龙，家长们更加明确了孩子们的成长方向，老师们也增进了对学生的了解。

        By the end of the session, parents have written down the strengths and shortcomings of their children, which could not only enhance the interaction between teachers and students, but also give a chance to our parents to get to know their children. 

        通过参加本次沙龙，家长们表示自己对附校中美班的教育教学有了更进一步的了解，对孩子未来的规划有了更清晰的认识。我们相信通过这样紧密的家校合作，定能为孩子们在成长道路上提供更好的支持。加油吧，中美班VIA的孩子们！希望你们在这片广阔的天地里积极进取，努力拼搏，三年之后为自己交上一份满意的答卷！

        Parents were satisfied with this salon and happy to see there are more and more opportunities or channels for them to communicate with the school. A tight school-parents cooperation will lay a solid foundation for our students. We believe that our students are always working hard toward that goal and have made themselves more independent and adaptable.
