高二开学以来，中秋博饼、躲避球等活动让同学们度过了愉快的校园生活。与此同时，同学们也时刻谨记着现在肩上的担子比之前更重了，继高一家长留学沙龙后，国际部中美班在周五又迎来了一场针对高二专场的家长留学沙龙。
We have so much fun since the first day of the term, because we had Mid-Autumn Festival activity and the dodgeball day.
Meanwhile, we have realized that we must be more responsible and independent. Letting our parents know more about studying aboard, VIA in The Affiliated School of Xiamen Institute of Technology introduced another parents’ salon for senior two on last Friday.

It’s also evident that we actively get our parents involved in our students’ future. Our college admission adviser Rachel has brought us insightful analysis and detailed information of studying aboard.

Q: For four favorite countries of studying overseas, which country is the best?
A:Our parents should have a full consideration, such as location, school distribution, the cost of studying abroad, livability and immigration policy of the country.
留学国家哪家强？
各有特色，百花齐放！是选择升读名校可能性大，鼓励学生发挥个性的美国？是教育、艺术设计、文科类（社会科学）及理工类都很有优势的英国？还是气候宜人、环境优美的理想求学目的地澳洲？亦或是移民政策宽松，教育费用相对低廉的加拿大？各有优势，需要结合学生意愿及家庭的实际情况来具体分析。
Q: What are the advantages of studying in these different countries?
A: They have different distinctive features. In the United States, you will witness a bigger chance of going to famous universities, and using your abilities in all aspects. For the UK, majors like education, art design, social studies and polytechnic have their own strengths. Speaking of which, Australia has a more ideal climate and good environment. Or a country like Canada which has a generous immigration policy and affordable tuition.
大学录取看什么？
平均分，整体排名，语言标准化考试雅思/托福成绩，SAT/SAT2/ACT/AP/IB(美国）等成绩、学生综合实力包含领导力、实验、活动、特长、荣誉等，这些皆是大学录取的参考标准。所以高中三年学生应从第一年全面合理规划，逐渐过渡到有目的、有意识地侧重于个人专业方向，标化考试等方向的准备。
Q: What is the admission requirement for overseas universities?
A:GPA,IELTS/TOEFLscore,SAT/SAT2/ACT/AP/IB score plus students’ abilities including leadership, competition, honors/awards etc. We should build up a full three years plan for every student, and make preparation for standardized test as well as your future major.
大学专业如何选？
工程类、计算机类、商科类是近几年的热门领域，但不同专业在国内或国外的就业优势各不相同。例如美国就业机会多，计算机等周边专业很适合这个“计算机第一世界大国”，而澳洲可以选择会计、护理等比较容易移民的专业。孩子们可根据自己的兴趣辅之以就业前景进行全方位的衡量。
Q: What kind of majors should we choose?
A: Hot majors like engineer, computer, and business are the first choices for recent years, but different majors enjoy different advantages. For instance, computer and related majors are suitable for the United States, which is known as the biggest computer major country. For Australia, you could choose accounting or nursery for easier to immigrate. When we want to decide which major is suitable for us, we should consider our interest and career path.
大学申请时间如何把握？
高二年尽可能完成所有标化考试并取得较满意成绩，同时在课外、假期等时间参加有意义有方向的社会实践、夏令营等活动。高三年进行综合情况评估，选择合适目标学校，制定申请方案后开始准备申请材料清单。早准备就能早收获！
Q: What is the action plan for applying university?
A: In senior two, we should try to achieve a good score in our standardized test. In the same time, we should actively participate in extracurricular activities, like being a volunteer. When it comes to senior three, we could choose a target school and draw up a suitable plan for applying our dream schools.

Apart from that, we also exchanged the idea of how to prepare for the standardized test.
