Aspiration
This is to inspire our students to aim high and noble, set clear life goals, lead a simple life and make determined efforts at self-improvement by enduring hardships.

Zhuge Liang (181-234): “This is a way of life for a man of virtue: to cultivate his character by keeping a peaceful mind, and nourish his morality by leading a frugal living. Only freedom from vanity can demonstrate one’s determination in his pursuit; and only peace of mind can help him achieve something of lasting existence.”

Erudition
This is to inspire our students to discover and learn good qualities from others, to have profound knowledge, to be shrewd and capable, and above all, to never cease learning.

Source:
Zhu Xi or Chu Hsi (1130-1200): “Confucius said: ‘When it comes to erudition, here are some requisites -- extensive study, accurate inquiry, careful reflection, clear discrimination, and earnest practice. If others succeed by one effort, the superior man will use a hundred efforts. If others succeed by ten efforts, he will use a thousand. Let a man proceed in this way, and, though dull, he will surely become intelligent; though weak, he will surely become strong.’"
