        The ASXIT A-level Course.

        Here at ASXIT we provide our students with a three year study programme; commencing in year one with the bridging course. Prior to A-level studies, learners study English in order to develop and improve their skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking; preparation for entry to the first year of the two year A-level programme. The bridging course allows students to become familiar with the topics they will encounter in their chosen A-level subjects. Furthermore, students study all subjects that are provided at A-level here at ASXIT in readiness of making their subject choices at the end of the year.

        Our teachers, mainly native English speakers from the UK, deliver all lessons in English. Students are provided with support from teaching Assistants who enable translation pending students becoming more skilled in English. We assess students in all subjects mid-year and at the end of the first year prior to discussing A-level subject choices.

        The A-level subjects which are available include; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology; students chose 3 of the 4 subjects. In addition, students are provided with the opportunity to studying Chinese Language at AS and A-level. Dependant upon the end of year 1 assessment and progress in year 2 i.e. year 1 of A-levels, students may be entered for AS Mathematics, AS Physics and AS Chinese. AS qualifications are half of an A-level. By sitting AS Levels students receive results prior to applying to Universities, thereby enhancing their chances of securing a place on their chosen course at the chosen University. Studies continue in to the final year when the A-level exams are sat. In addition, those who have been assessed as having the necessary skills, will be entered for the IELTS exam. IELTS 6.5 is the target level of achievement we aim for by mid-year in the final year of the programme; success is necessary as this is a necessary component of applying to obtain a visa to enter the UK to study as an undergraduate. There are more opportunities made available to learners to sit IELTS exams throughout the programme.
