        嗨，大家好，我是Vivian。

        在这个影片中，我想和大家介绍一下我在海外的经历和感想。我目前在澳大利亚布利斯班学习，是昆士兰科技大学的大一在读生。

       Hi guys, my name is Vivian.

        In this video, I’m just gonna be going over what I am going through and overall how I feel about studying abroad. So I am currently studying in Brisbane, Australia, and I am in first year of QUT, which is Queensland University of Technology.

        布里斯班，澳大利亚第三大城市及昆士兰州首府， 人口220万，为1988年世界博览会主办之都市，风和日丽、人民友善，气候舒爽，非常适合居住，素有"阳光之都"美称。

        昆士兰科技大学（The Queensland University of Technology，简称QUT）又译作“昆士兰理工大学”、“昆科大”。学校于1908年建校，坐落于澳大利亚昆士兰州布里斯班市区，是一所历史悠久、声誉卓著的公立大学。

        疫情在澳洲的情况

        Covid-19 in Australia

        众所周知，疫情让我们的生活发生了很多变化。但总体而言，在布里斯班的日子还可以，不算糟糕。人们仍然可以出门去采购生活用品，有一些人依然可以持续工作。但是，显而易见，人们不能出门娱乐，也不能去购买非必需品。我的大学也将所有常规课程改为线上授课。

As everyone know, there’s a lot of changes going on in all of our lives right now due to Covid-19. But overall, the life in Brisbane is still fine, not too bad. People can still go out to do grocery shopping and some people can still work. But, obviously, people can’t go out freely for recreation and buying non-essential items. And, my uni has switch all of the regular school classes to online classes.

        出国学到的功课

        What I learned from studying abroad

        说到另一大主题，你在出国留学期间学到了什么。对我而言，最大的功课就是学会对自己负责。有许多事情我需要对其负责，例如准时提交作业，出席课堂，甚至工作。你一个人在国外读书的时候，没有谁可以真正的帮到你。因此，对自己的生活负责是尤其重要的。

        And moving on to another kind of huge topic, what are the things that you can learn while studying abroad. For me, I think the biggest thing that I have learn is be responsible. There are lot of things I need to be responsible for, like submitting your assignments on time, attending classes, or even work. No one can really help you especially you are studying abroad alone. So it is very important to take responsibility of your life.

        出国面临的挑战

        Challenges

        最大的挑战是我必须不断走出自己的舒适圈。我在澳洲留学第一年所突破的舒适圈，比过往人生走出的所有舒适圈都要多。

        在澳洲走出的第一个舒适圈就是克服坐飞机的恐惧（我会害怕坐飞机）。另外，到一个新的环境到熟悉环境，从人生地不熟到交到朋友，文化冲击都要自己慢慢地去突破。有所熟悉后，又踏入兼职的工作环境，需要学习帮外国人点餐的英文和礼仪，克服他们每次点餐的语速，锻炼自己的英文听力。很多事情需要克服，尤其是一个人在国外。

        总而言之，总有舒适圈需要你一再地突破。

        The biggest difficulty that I encountered is keep on getting out of my comfort zone. It seems like the number of comfort zones that I get out in last year, which is the first year I spent in Australia, are way more than the number that get out in my whole life.

        The first comfortable zone to overcome in Australia was the fear of flying (I was afraid of taking planes). What’s more, I struggled from culture shock when making friends here and getting familiar with the environment. After that, I started a part-time job, where I had to learn the language and the social etiquette for ordering food. So I got myself used to the speed people talk and exercised my English too. There are a lot of challenges when you stay abroad on your own.

        So, there are always another comfort zone for you to overcome again and again.

        最大的成就

        Accomplishment

        我在澳洲留学的最大成就是一份兼职工作，很幸运，我的工资可以负担所有的生活开销，不过当然了，我的家庭仍需要帮我缴交学费。

        The greatest accomplishment that I did during studying in Australia is get a part-time job and, fortunately, I can cover all of my living expenses from what I have earn, but of course, my family still support my tuition fee.

        澳洲政府规定澳洲留学的学生平时可以每周工作20个小时,假期无工作时间限制。政府规定的最低工资是10澳币/小时。

        如果时间能倒退

        If time goes backward

        我从未后悔过出国留学这个决定。

        对我而言，家人们的默默支持是最大的祝福。如果时间倒退，我会在出国前告诉自己，要提高自己的快速阅读的能力。我觉得目前大部分学生都花更多精力在精读。但我发现略读和跳读是非常重要的技能，尤其在大学里，你需要阅读大量的文章来完成功课。

        我觉得在国内国际体制学习是一个很好的跳板，出国后发现能比一般教育体系上来的同学更能适应课程，对于雅思和托福考试也挺有帮助的。老师也很耐心协助升学和学习的状况。

        I never feel regretful about the choice that I made to study abroad.

        It is such a blessing that my family are always there for me and support me. If time goes backward, I will tell myself before going abroad to improve my scanning and skimming skills. I feel like most of students now focus too much on detailed reading. And I found out that scanning and skimming are very important skills especially in uni that you need to read plenty of articles in order to write assignments.

        I think it's a very good way to start from domestic international schools.When I first came here,I found myself more adapted to the curriculum than those from ordinary high schools. It's also helpful for IELTS and TOEFL. Teachers care about your academic performance and patiently guide you.
